Thusitha Balasooriya: 15 Years of Proven Political Leadership

Born in my mother’s hometown, Ratnapura, I was raised in my father’s house on Rukmale Road, Pannipitiya since birth. I studied from Grade 1 to Advanced Level at Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya and continued my education at the Open University of Sri Lanka.

In addition, I have completed a diploma in governance, public administration and policy making at the Faculty of Politics, Colombo, and have also served as its course coordinator for several years. I was an active member of the Social Democrats’ Union, which was supported by Germany.

Before contesting this year’s local government election from the United National Party, I also held the position of Secretary of the Social Democratic Party of Sri Lanka and have been active in politics for more than 15 years as the National Organizer of the Anti-Corruption Front. I am a speaker, thinker and writer.

I am currently the CEO of several companies affiliated with Sooriya Organization Private Limited and am a young entrepreneur with creative and bright ideas who creates jobs in the fields of advertising, real estate and optical equipment.

Having started my political journey as a school student, I am contesting the Maharagama Municipal Council this time with a plan to win Maharagama. Every word of the five-part plan you are reading here is my own opinion and I believe that you do not need any further evidence to believe me.

Under the leadership of the Leader of the United National Party, Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, and under the guidance of the Maharagama Electoral Organizer, Mr. Nishantha Warnasinghe, I am contesting the Maharagama Municipal Council for the Godigamuwa North Division on behalf of the United National Party’s youth representation.

My aim is to provide the United National Party with the youth and energy necessary to create a prosperous, healthy and secure life for the residents of Maharagama, as well as a prosperous and pious society and a good administration in the Maharagama Urban Council area.
